Getting the right candidate for the desired role can often be difficult for local governments and having a well design recruitment procedure in place is vital.

A recruitment process with a well-designed pre-employment assessment program helps employers enhance the likelihood of hiring workers who can meet the specific job requirements at an acceptable level of risk, be it physical or psychological.

LGIS provides a range of injury prevention services to members, and we have updated our resources to assist you through the hiring and on boarding process.

The package now includes tools essential for both pre-employment and post induction stages.

You can view all our resources HERE.

Pre-employment advice

We provide expert advice about pre-employment medicals to ensure your local government identifies the most suitable candidates during your recruitment process. Some of these include:

  • Advice on design, implementation and review of pre-employment medical protocol and requirements
  • Advice on functional capacity assessments
  • Advice on key risk areas for job roles

Job dictionaries

To make your pre-employment assessments relevant to individual roles, members are advised to utilise the LGIS suite of job dictionaries. Align these with your screening process so that you can increase your chances of hiring the most suitable candidate for the job.

Ergonomic resources

Once you have employed your suitable candidate, we have a range of resources which you can use to help get your new starter on the right track as quickly as possible.

This includes ergonomic self-assessment checklists for office workstations, machinery, vehicles and work from home setups. Ensure your staff have reviewed these resources so that they can identify any concerns with their workstation or equipment as soon as possible, and work towards implementing recommendations to reduce the risk of injury in the future.

Online education resources

Our educational guides can help your new starter during their induction process. Some of these resources focus on manual task awareness and correct seat and desk set up.
